'As many as touch Me are made perfectly whole' (Matthew 14:36)
[adapted from The God of Healing,]
The signs that would be associated with believers, states our Bible, are that we would cast out demons and "lay [our] hands on the sick, who will recover" (Mark 16:17).
As far as tradition, Mary's interventions have involved healing more often than not, including at places such as Guadalupe, where in the midst of her appearances there near Mexico City seer Juan Diego's uncle was stricken with a contagious and deadly fever called cocolistle.
Juan gathered herbs and prepared medicine for his uncle, then tended to the suffering man, whose name was Juan Bernardino. This kept Saint Diego from an appointment with the Virgin that day on Tepeyac Hill, where he was to be given the famous tilma image.
Still the uncle's condition deteriorated and knowing the fever was so fatal, Juan sprinted to a nearby town called Tlaltelocho to find a priest who could minister Last Rites. Skirting the hill, so as not to be diverted by the appointed apparition, Juan suddenly encountered the Blessed Mother descending at such an angle as to intercept him and in an instant found himself kneeling at her feet. (One can only imagine!)
"Least of my sons, what is the matter?" the Mother of God asked him.
Juan apologized for not showing up as planned and explained that his uncle was dying.
"My little son, do not be distressed and afraid," the Blessed Mother had replied. "Am I not here who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Your uncle will not die at this time. This very moment his health is restored. There is no reason now for the errand you set out on, and you can peacefully attend to mine."
Juan was soon to learn that Mary was appearing to his desperately ill uncle at the about same time that she was speaking to him.
We see how the supernatural is unlimited by our notions of space and time.
Claim your healing. Claim your blessing beyond natural laws. Case in point: A fellow named Gary Wood was driving with his sister on an icy road when his car crashed. "There was a sharp searing pain that went through my upper facial features," he told a television interviewer named Sid Roth. "I felt a crushing in my larynx. And then I was just relieved of all pain. Dying is just like taking your clothes off and just laying them aside. I stepped out of my body and was lifted through the top of my head over this car and saw my whole life in just an instant. Then I was caught up in a swirling funnel-shaped cloud that grew very bright.
"Angels took me underneath their wings. They had pronounced me dead at the scene of the accident. I learned that I was dead for over sixty-one minutes. It was ecstasy; it was peaceful; calm, tranquility. Then angels began to sing: 'Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain from the foundation of the world,' and this cloud opened up and I saw this gigantic golden satellite suspended in space what the Bible calls Heaven. It had twelve foundations, and the names of the twelve Apostles were transcribed upon them. There were gates of pearl that were over five hundred miles in width. I started walking on the grassy hill.
"The grass came all the way through my feet yet there were no indentations. Instead there were diamonds on the grass and an angel standing in front of one of those gates of pearl and he was at least seventy feet tall. He had a sword and beautiful gold-spun hair, and there was an angel inside the city who was holding some books and there was an exchange between these two angels. Then I was allowed access into the city and I have to say I was allowed in the city because I received Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. I met my best friend from high school who died in a car accident (he had been decapitated) and I certainly recognized him and he began to take me on the tour of the place called Heaven."
During that "tour," claims Wood -- near the "throne room" of God -- he saw a building with a sign that said "Unclaimed Blessings." In this building as symbols were parts of the human anatomy needed for various earthly healings: arms, legs, organs. "I saw what happened," said Wood. "When people pray the prayers go up and Jesus receives that prayer and He sends out an angel and the angel goes and takes the spare parts and brings it down immediately. Now, sometimes it's instantaneous; sometimes it's like Daniel had to wait twenty-one days to receive his manifestation."
When Wood returned to his body (and later, waking up in a recovery room), he found himself with a broken neck, severed vocal chords, missing teeth, a broken jaw, a nose that had been torn off, and the horribly damaged larynx. "Jesus walked into my hospital room -- actually walked in; I saw His olive skin, the holes where nails had punctured His hands, the crown of thorns, He had beautiful blue eyes -- and He just walked over and put His hands on my throat and smiled and touched me as a song played and then He just walked out of the room," recounted Wood.
"He didn't come in by the door; He didn't leave by the door; He is the Door and the little nurse who had been attending me said, 'Good morning, Mr. Wood, how are you this morning?' -- just trying to cheer me up. I put up my hands and said, 'Praise God, I've been healed!' (despite having no functioning larynx). She dropped the tray and needless to say she went out to get the doctors!"
When a miracle occurs the veil parts and there is a beam of His Light.
"I have a gift for you," He is saying. "Will you receive it?"
