Nearly 3 years ago I was reading daily comments on the rosary made by a seminarian on Facebook, he was from Uganda. One was so inspiring I made a comment on it . 2 days later he accepted my “friend request “ asking me where I was from. BUT I had not made a friend request!!!!
So we started communicating — it was a “pen pal “ sort of relationship. After a few months there was a different tone to his messages, I asked if there was anything wrong. He said yes, he was being sent home from seminary, and he was the spokesman for his seminary group that was going to see the pope on his visit to Uganda. This young man was devastated. I asked why he was being sent home in his final year of seminary….he said for lack of fees.
To make a long story short , our rosary group paid $200 and he is now a priest!
His main focus is the poor in his country because “God lifted me from poverty to His altar.” He is also vice rector at a minor seminary and he asked us to pray for 3 little boys, I asked why. They were being sent home from the school for “lack of fees”. So rosary group kept those little boys in school. We also send the boys pens (some boys come to school without them because their parents can’t afford them). Balloons, because only the “elite “ have balloons. Pictures of the Stations of the Cross which they use in procession as they pray the Stations . There are 327 -fifth, sixth and seventh graders at this minor seminary.
We get video thank you s from the children, pictures of the school and all the activities and were even invited to his ordination! Rosary group bought him a ticket and he flew (for the first time in his life) to America to visit us over Christmas! Love and prayers are shared between all of us all the time, and all this from a little message on Facebook!
