From Vatican Insider:
Georg Ratzinger, 94, brother of the ninety-year-old Pope Emeritus, spoke in an interview of a paralyzing disease from which Benedict XVI would suffer. The Bavarian monsignor, director emeritus of the Domspatzen choir, is not new to sort of alarmist statements about his brother. How to forget his famous interview after the election of the German Pontiff thirteen years ago, when he said his brother Joseph was “too old and sick to be Pope.”
Georg Ratzinger’s words were quoted in Neue Post magazine, and have also been reported on the German pages of the Holy See’ official website Vatican News. The Pontiff’s brother spoke of a sort of paralysis that forces him to “use a wheelchair. The greatest concern is that the paralysis may end up reaching his heart, and that “everything might be over soon.” He then added, “Every day I pray to God for the grace of a good death, at a good moment, for me and my brother. We both have this great wish.” Georg Ratzinger also said that he speaks daily on the phone with his brother and that he plans to visit him in the Vatican, as he usually does, for his next birthday on April 16, “but it’s a long time. Who knows what will happen until then…” he commented.
