God Closes All Wounds
Life on earth is such that everything eventually breaks or wears out. Call it entropy. Let's focus here on how so many things break. There are those things that God and only God can replace or repair.
Interesting here is how, in life, brokenness often leads to something better. Recently someone we know spilled liquid on a computer keyboard. A disaster, right? The replacement, at the same price, is far superior (no longer so many typos!). It solved problems that had been a plague for years. An improvement.
It is true in our lives.
How many times has a terrible situation, even a tragedy, had a silver lining -- led to something greater (especially spiritually) than you had before, when it was taken the right way; when it was given to God? Look at how "broken" Christ had to be to resurrect and save us.
Broken things. Broken limbs. Broken hearts. How many relationships are you now glad never lasted?
A computer here crashed last week due to an intrusive Microsoft "update." Before the update, there had been problems with a program used to hyperlink articles. It had become terribly slow. Then, the computer outright stopped functioning. Another disaster, right? Except that when a tech recovered all the files and installed a new version of Windows, the slow hyperlink program suddenly was faster than ever before (as was the computer).
Too often we sulk over the wounds or loss and don't allow God to do what He will do.
When we do, He heals and in the end sends us something more than we had before!
"Jesus I trust in You."
Now, the enemy can cause plenty of wounds, accidents, and tragedies. When they're from him, we have to work at expunging his evil spirit. Damage he does. But even a demonic attack can be used by God to make us better Christians.
It can take time. Look at physical wounds. A cut or burn or broken bone can seem like it's taking forever, but incredible is the way skin knits a wound back together or a bone rejoins. Did you ever observe that process? Have you watched how skin around a wound will swell up to draw closer until it naturally "stitches" shut or how an itch causes us to scratch, which sends healing blood to the area?
The healing.
The marvels of God.
The more God takes, the more He gives. When we are broken, he breaks us, to re-form us.
Next time you're injured or lose something, offer it up, make sure the enemy is not behind it (if so, cast him out), and wait on the Lord in the Highest Heaven to give you something better, often something you never imagined. It's His response to our patience, pain, and longsuffering.
